Dayton, Ohio – The Universal 1 Credit Union (U1) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessica Jones as President/CEO. Ms. Jones assumed full duties of the position and title after the retirement of Loren A. Rush on October 19, 2021. Chairman Thomas Hickey commented “Jessica brings a true passion for credit union values and will ensure that our members remain the central focus in everything we do.”

Paul Mercer, President of the Ohio Credit Union League & Affiliates, shared this reflection on the transition: “In selecting Jessica Jones, the Board of Directors has accomplished yet another brilliant, seamless CEO succession and locked in Universal 1’s bright future. Jessica is driven for growth and success. With deep experience, irrepressible spirit, and superior leadership skill she will propel Universal 1 to new horizons of performance and impact while keeping purpose constant…Universal 1’s mission is all about the members. Ms. Jones is a graduate of Miami University and has an MBA in Finance from American Public University. She has served in a variety of leadership roles throughout the years, including most recently, President. Ms. Jones has been recognized nationally multiple times by winning Credit Union National Association Awards. She is active in the Ohio Credit Union League as a Board Director and serves as Vice Chair of the OCUL Political Action Committee. Ms. Jones is also a proud graduate of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce Empower Leadership Program and was recently selected as one of Dayton Business Journal’s 2021 Power 50 Honorees.

U1 will reach a milestone in April 2022, celebrating 85 years of service to its members and the community. In recognition of the anniversary, U1 will endeavor in new sponsorships, events and enhancements that will greater support members and the community.
