Position:                President/CEO of the Chillicothe-Ross Chamber of Commerce

The Chillicothe-Ross Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic, energetic, experienced President/CEO who is a proven leader and passionate about making Chillicothe and Ross County succeed. President/CEO must work closely with businesses, City officials, County officials, and area civic organizations to maintain support and foster growth within the community. The President/CEO will report to the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee. This person is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Chamber of Commerce and implementing approved policies and procedures.  The President/CEO is accountable for providing executive leadership, strategic direction, and vision for the development and fulfillment of the Chamber’s mission and strategic plan.

Duties include: Consulting with the board of directors; responsible for all administrative functions of the chamber; responsible for the daily management of the chamber staff and facility; responsible for the daily financial affairs of the chamber; responsible for maintaining a positive, consistent image for the chamber among its members and in the community; coordinates economic development activities.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • College Degree in related field (or) Five years of business/not-for-profit work experience.
  • Experience in volunteer management highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and management skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks at one time in a team oriented environment helpful.
  • Established relationships within the Chillicothe and Ross County community preferred.

About The Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce:

This chamber was founded in February 1888 as the Board of Trade, changing its name to the chamber of commerce in 1912. It was founded to give the business community a voice in the affairs affecting them, much the same reason the chamber exists today. While the Chillicothe Ross Chamber is a member of both the state and national chambers of commerce, it is governed solely by its own board of directors.

Organizational chart

The members are at the top of the chart as the stakeholders. From the members, a Board of Directors is elected. From the board, an Executive Committee is elected consisting of a chair, vice chair, treasurer, immediate past chair and board officers. The Executive Committee is empowered to make decisions on behalf of the board. The president and CEO is hired by the board and is responsible for hiring and managing the staff.

Incorporation

The chamber is incorporated as a 501c6 non-profit organization under federal tax laws. It is not a charitable organization, but a portion of dues investments may be used as a business expense. The organization is governed by its bylaws.

Programs

The chamber is involved in some degree or another with many programs in the community and administers the following: •Ross County Safety Council: •Workforce Development: The South Central Ohio Job Bank •EPIC: The official young professionals network of Ross County.

The Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce is located at 45 E. Main St. and is a one-stop place for members and developers.
